Christmas in Nevada County is like no other. The activities calendars are endless at this time of year. Pictured above is the Nevada County Food and Toy Run in its 25th year. Motorcycle riders from all over Northern California will once again ride down the streets of Nevada City collecting food and toys for underpriviledged families. This will take place on Saturday, December 10th at 12 noon. More than 1500 riders are expected this year. Every second Saturday in December hundreds of spectators line the route as they rumble through town on their way to the Nevada County Fairgrounds where hundreds of families will receive a turkey or ham and each child receives at least three toys.

Nevada City is also host to Victorian Christmas held Sundays, Dec. 4, 11, & 18 from 1:30 to 6 pm and Wednesdays Dec. 14 & 21 from 5-9 pm in historic downtown. You will find festive food booths, holiday crafts and gifts, live entertainment and so much more! There are shuttles available at the Eric Rood Center. Grass Valley hosts its own Cornish Christmas where you will find delicious food vendors, handmade arts and crafts, carolers, live music, roasting chestnuts and more! The dates for these are November 25 from 6 to 9 pm , Dec. 2, 9, 16 & 23 from 6 to 9 pm in downtown Grass Valley. Visit this site for more information:

The Nevada County Fairgrounds is also host to the Annual Country Christmas Faire in its 32nd year. Santa Claus will pay a visit at this three day event held this year November 25 – 27th from  10 am to 4 pm. This is rated as one of the top handcrafted shows in Northern California. Artisans come from states as far east as New York to display and sell their goods. The magical Gingerbread House exhibit, coloring contest, wagon rides, victorian singers and bell ringers will also be there! Bring a can donation for $1 off Sunday’s admission of $5. Parking is free
